A GATEWAY FOR LEARNERS AND PRACTITIONERS OF MI

MiCampus is in the final stages of development. It will offer six services via the internet and its offices in The Netherlands and the USA. It will provide a range of practice development, coaching and certification opportunities for researchers, coaches and practitioners of motivational interviewing.

MiCampus BV is registered in The Netherlands and managed by Rik Bes Consulting BV (NL) & Jeff Allison Training Ltd (UK).

THE UPHILL STRUGGLE

Achieving and maintaining genuine skilfulness in motivational interviewing is not an easy task. It requires thoughtful study and effort, sustained over a long period - and a readiness to explore the less-helpful aspects of one’s practice. Improving the productivity of professional conversation is a complex undertaking. ‘What influences my practice?’, ‘Why do I get so impatient with my clients?’, ‘How might I have more constructive conversations?’ ‘What difference do I actually make?’ For practitioners to answer these types of questions is often difficult without the collaboration of colleagues, tutors, coaches, trainers and examiners. And this is how MiCampus will fulfil its purpose – to bring people together.

INTEGRATED SERVICES

Rather like the assessment of one’s own singing voice, most of us overestimate somewhat the quality of our practice. It’s comforting to imagine that it’s better than it is. Whether you regard yourself as a novice or an expert, MiCampus will have something for you; a range of integrated services all carefully designed to assist practitioners in acquiring, enhancing, maintaining and certifying demonstrable skilfulness.

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

The six services will provide a practice development pathway: information - MiC1; learning resources - MiC2; peer collaboration forums - MiC3; personal coaches - MiC4; practice assessment for researchers/practitioners - MiC5; and certification designed to recognise high quality practice - MiC6. These services will be opening in a sequence, over the coming year, starting with MiC3 and MiC6.

MiCampus does not offer traditional ‘on-site’ training but we can suggest reliable trainers, around the world, for the prospective commissioner to contact.
